We all have a story of faith to tell. Each story is unique; some stories are in the first chapters, while others have well developed plots. So often in today’s world, we talk of Faith as where God’s Story and My Story overlap. This is only one part of the story. There is more! Our story is rich and diverse because it includes God’s Story, My Story and Your Story.
By grace, God comes to us daily through the Word and in community with each other. That is where the three stories overlap. It is where we walk together. By looking closer at how Gos comes to us and develops Our Story, we can regard ourselves, each other, and the world no longer from a human point of view. Our Story is important.
During the summer of 2008, participants at Sky Ranch and Sleepy Owl Ranch will explore how God comes to all of us daily, regardless of whom we are, or where we are. We are strengthened as we explore these stories and we are called, gathered and scattered into the world to share Our Story!
2 Cor. 5:16-20 (NRSV)
16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view;* even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view,* we know him no longer in that way. 17So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; 19that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself,* not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. 20So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

During the week we will be spending every day focusing on the objectives of the theme. This approach works well with the elective nature of the Stepping Stones Bible study method. It will give the participants a chance to explore how their own gifts and talents are part of Our Story thereby giving them tools to continue when they get home. As they daily explore how God comes to us in wilderness settings, in community, in food, in creative abilities, and in exploration of the Word, the worshipping community will become more aware of the importance and the power of how Our Story is needed in the world, and how they can help share it.
Each evening at worship, we will look at how God’s Story, My Story and Your Story come together to form Our Story. Gathered together a s a community we will experience the messages and creative worships that will bring a close to the day and scatter us into the next chapter of Our Story.
