Donald L. Thompson
Donald L. Thompson grew up watching
his father create scenes and portraits in oil. This fostered his love of
art. As a boy he did pencil sketches graduating to oils as he matured. It
was a natural step from there to creating paintings with water colors. He
found the ultimate challenge, though, when he took a class in sculpting.
His life-sized sculpture, Little League
Batter, was recently placed near the Little League baseball field in Centennial
Park in Loveland. Many other of his bronze and pewter pieces can be viewed
in private collections across the U.S.
Retired now from many years in the
aircraft repair business, Don works in and maintains his own studio west
of Loveland
"I have a fondness for people
in general, but try to capture the spontaneous innocence of children and
the beauty and grace of wild animals in my sculptures. Learning and improving
in all fields of art can be pursued regardless of age, and it has made my
retirement both productive and enjoyable." |
