Lee Stark
Lee is a native Coloradan who worked
during the summers on the family cattle ranch at historic Virginia Dale.
During the winter he lived in Denver. War interrupted his college education
with a three-year hitch in the Air Force, including a tour of Korea. After
returning to the University of Denver he studied art from Vance Kirkland
as well as at Mexico City College.
Lee spent 30 successful years in the
restaurant business. The Black Steer in Loveland and the Charco Broiler
in Fort Collins are "works of art" in themselves, serving as galleries
for his current work as well as some of his earlier more abstract pieces.
Lee is a patron of the arts and has
collected other artists" work since college. As his love of art grew,
so did his collection and his support of fellow artists. As a collector,
Lee met George Lundeen, who stimulated him into more representational work.
This fine turning point in Lee's life started ten years filled with joy
of learning from the sharing with others this wonderful experience we call
"art."
Whether from life's experiences or
a vision, Lee enjoys sculpting the human figure in action, challenging the
senses and capturing the essence of his models.
His sculptures and fountains are found
in private collections throughout the United States, and parts of Europe
and Mexico. |
