SHARE THE KIWANIS EXPERIENCE
|
...I currently display my work at Leapingotis Fine Arts in Vail, and Bristol Gallery, Denver, as well as showing at local sculpture shows.
It is my belief that the culmination of all my artistic knowledge and experience is reflected in the medium of sculpture. The reasons I have chosen to sculpt these elongated figures are numerous. First, they allow me to convey my complete admiration for the endless variation that exists in nature. I can represent my love for organic things through the use of simplistic forms and combinations of roughened textures. Another reason I have chosen to sculpt these tall figures is my fascination for negative space. In my mind's eye, there is a balance that exists in each one of my constructions between the figures themselves and the spaces they create in-between. It is the search for this harmony that continuously compels me to create new and exciting combinations. The only other element that is a constant in all my work is one of spirituality. It is my belief that each human being spends a certain amount of time upon the reflection of his or her place and meaning on earth. Through my images my own personal journey is depicted over and over again.
I intend to continue to focus on sculpting as my primary medium and to place all of my energy in this pursuit. My imagery at this time lends itself to endless possibilities and I hope to continue learning special techniques that will further enhance my work."
