Maxine
Maxine grew in stature on the family
farm in Northern Colorado, where she worked and played in the beautiful
but sometimes brutal northern Colorado elements. These fundamental experiences
and her proud heritage provided the rich soil in which her natural eye for
detail and compassionate approach to man, and animal, grew to maturity.
Add a generous amount of determination, an ounce of intuition, a pinch of
showmanship and you have a well-rounded, down-to-earth regional artist,
who readily recognizes and captures the individual spark of personality
and gesture in both man and animal.
"I have reached a point in my
artistic career that allows me complete freedom to create. Being free, in
my opinion, is essential to being an artist. The challenge of learning,
evolving and creating inspires me.
"Traveling, living, and studying
in such spectacular places as Alaska, Hawaii and Europe has been exciting,
educational, and most memorable; however, I have always been drawn back
to Northern Colorado. As a native of Weld County, the people, animals and
landscape make this area special to me. Among my most recent accomplishments
are a commissioned statue of a local war hero, along with a life size eagle.
Both have been installed at the Weld County Veterans' Memorial in Bittersweet
Park, Greeley, Colorado.
"Like people, I believe each animal
has its own unique rhythm and spirit. To capture that individuality and
personality is to capture a spark of life. It has been said that my work
reflects a lifelong study and love of people and animals - that, is my fulfillment!"
